Dressel 1144 - U.S. Army Railroad The U.S. Designates this lantern as belonging to the U.S. Army. The 1144 was for the 1144th Transportation Battalion.  The military operated its own base railroad systems and soldiers were often assigned to these railroad. 
They were also issued switch key, steam manual, rule book, safety rules, timetable and locomotive operators manuals for MRS1's, GP7's, and Baldwin 60 Tonners.

Condition - is excellent,  all original with original red paint,  no rust or pitting. 
Looks to have been barely used.
